I have been a fan of the DD/T/B threads for a long time but wanted to know the answer to the ultimate question. No matter how you slice it, great cars, all of them.

Questions: any of them automatics? 6-speeds? base-models?

I haven't driven an NC yet, but they are supposedly more comfortable to daily with, so I'd DD the NC.
Track the NB, as I am partial to my NB.
I don't think I could burn the NA, but maybe if it was a tattered old NA with over 300,000 miles on it with rust every where. . .
So the 500,000th Miata was a '00 Evo Orange? At least it was a rare color. Looks to be a base model as well.

DD: NB, because schmexy body style and Mazdaspeed offerings
Track: NA because you can embarrass newer cars with a 20 year-old Mazda
Burn: NC, because it's fugly

Didn't specify, I guess pick the best (or worst) of each model to make your choice

But, the NA looks the best and is the most fun!

You know you're Jalop when a Miata is a headturner ;)

I guess if I can go BK and have it my way then..
DD: NC because retractable hardtop and 5-speed manual; club option because stripe.
Track: NB because there's a local Miata racing shop and their ace up the sleeve in Spec Miata is a VVT NB. 5-speed and the club-roadster package of course. Also, the NB might be the car to have for SCCA E Street nationals.
Burn: NA, I really wanted one as my first car but it loses compared to its newer siblings.

DD: NA (looks good and is economical)
Track: NC (because powah)
Burn: NB (it's just an ugly NA in my eyes)

I think it is best that I not let my evil powers control me any longer...
Goodbye, cruel world. Take care of the miatas.

I wouldn't want to DD a MSM. It is strictly because of that horrid 6 speed tranny they put in with way too close gear ratios.

For some reason, I never really liked the Miata... Can I get an S2000 instead?

I wish the S2000 had the production run and dedication that Mazda puts into the Miata. I also hope the ND will have the engine awesomeness that Honda put into the S2000.

Wait, the MSM 6speed has CLOSER gear ratios...?
D

Yeah, plus that limits the car to ~120 mph. Simply not enough.

With regards to the NC, you can't have all those things at once. 5-speed was only on the base model; base model never came with retractable hardtop.
daender
> D
10/22/2013 at 18:38 | 0 |
Welp...my choices remain the same. Just get a NC 5-speed, the soft top, and find someone who can replicate the club stripe along with a removable hardtop.

You'll want to throw in an LSD and some Bilsteins while you're at it. Base doesn't come with either.
Actually, skip the 'steins and get something more aggressive. They're truly soft, too much body roll =)

NC with aftermarket shocks and springs with an LSD FTW
D
> pdish
10/22/2013 at 18:49 | 0 |
Yeah, that car basically just needs a stiffer ride. Toss in some exhaust too, because the stock exhaust note is dismal. Then you've got yourself a ride.
pdish

10/22/2013 at 18:52 | 0 |
Exhaust was next on the list before I had to sell mine

I don't know if it is closer ratios than the normal 6sp box that was used in the NB but the power delivery of the MSM makes that tranny unbearable as you are constantly shifting. I believe you hit 60 in third if that tells you anything. It may be awesome for auto-x and track work, for DD duty I'll have a 5 speed.
